PowerBI Developer [Medior/Senior]
🏛 The DEUS Initiative
We're a team of curious minds who believe technology should serve people. Our mission is to unlock the potential of AI for humanity through solutions that are not just innovative, but also ethical and impactful. We're driven by a desire to simply make things better.
Our name is inspired by deus ex machina, not because we think we’re gods, but because we design AI that steps in to support, solve, and serve.
DEUS also stands for what we do best:
Data | Engineering | User Experience | Strategy
With offices in Amsterdam, Porto, and A Coruña, we collaborate on international projects that challenge us to think deeply, build with care, and design for human good.
Will you be part of what comes next?
⚜️ About You
You enjoy turning business needs into clear, reliable Power BI reports and care about the engineering behind them. In this role, you’ll help group finance make informed decisions through well-designed semantic models and reporting solutions.
This role is a great fit if you have:
Strong DAX skills, including writing and maintaining measures and implementing time intelligence.
Experience designing Power BI semantic models using a star schema, with clearly defined fact and dimension tables.
Experience implementing row-level security (RLS) in semantic models based on security groups.
The ability to diagnose and improve slow reports and models using tools such as Performance Analyzer and DAX Studio, addressing model size, storage modes and measure efficiency.
Experience working in a Git-based workflow with peer review. The specific tooling can be learned, but version control and reviewing changes should already be part of how you work.
Experience using AI coding agents to build and maintain models and reports, with the ability to critically review and validate their output.
...and some more points:
You communicate clearly in English and enjoy collaborating with technical teams and business stakeholders.
You can translate reporting needs into practical solutions and explain your decisions to people with different backgrounds.
You take ownership of your work, welcome feedback and care about accuracy, maintainability and the people using your reports.
Where there is room to grow:
You don’t need to have worked with every tool in our setup to be a great fit. While the core skills above are essential, there’s flexibility in the following areas:
Snowflake and dbt: Our analytics engineers build the data models in dbt on Snowflake; you’ll consume those models in Power BI. Experience using Snowflake as a source is a plus, but prior experience with Snowflake or dbt isn’t required.
Power BI project formats: Familiarity with PBIP, PBIR and TMDL is a plus, but you can learn these on the job.
Finance domain knowledge: Our reports serve Group Finance, so experience with financial reporting is a clear advantage, though not a requirement.
Microsoft Fabric: Fabric isn’t part of our current platform, so experience with it isn’t required.
⚜️ What You’ll Be Doing
Build and maintain Power BI reports and semantic models that support Group Finance.
Work with Finance stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate them into clear, useful reports.
Collaborate with analytics engineers, consuming the data models they build in dbt on Snowflake.
Develop and maintain DAX measures, including time intelligence calculations.
Implement and maintain row-level security using security groups.
Investigate performance issues and improve report responsiveness through efficient measures, model design and appropriate storage modes.
Manage changes through Git-based workflows and peer review, keeping models and reports maintainable.
Use AI coding agents to support development and maintenance, critically reviewing their output for correctness and quality.
(…and there’s always space to explore what excites you.)
⚜️ What You’ll Experience
