Business Controller [Medior] - Porto
🏛 The DEUS Initiative
We're a team of curious minds who believe technology should serve people. Our mission is to unlock the potential of AI for humanity through solutions that are not just innovative, but also ethical and impactful. We're driven by a desire to simply make things better.
Our name is inspired by deus ex machina, not because we think we’re gods, but because we design AI that steps in to support, solve, and serve.
DEUS also stands for what we do best:
Data | Engineering | User Experience | Strategy
With offices in Amsterdam, Porto, and A Coruña, we collaborate on international projects that challenge us to think deeply, build with care, and design for human good.
Will you be part of what comes next?
⚜️ About You
This role is a great fit if you have:
At least 2 years of relevant experience in controlling, FP&A, accounting, audit, consulting, or finance business partnering.
A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
A strong analytical mindset — you're confident with Excel, financial analysis and numbers, and curious about why something is happening, not just how to report it.
Outstanding communication in English and Portuguese, written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, facilitate conversations, and build trust-based relationships.
...and some more points:
You're highly organised and proactive, and comfortable taking ownership and responsibility.
You stay structured and reliable while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. We work across several countries, so priorities, information and contexts can change quickly.
You combine speed with precision and strong financial oversight, spotting risks early and keeping things moving.
Bonus points if you have:
Knowledge of accounting and payroll principles, with an understanding of employment law and regulatory frameworks.
Experience working with ERP systems such as NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics.
A real interest in technology, automation and AI, and a habit of looking for better ways to work.
